VOICES of Black Women
BLKHLTH is proud to support the American Cancer Society’s recruitment efforts for VOICES of Black Women.
VOICES of Black Women is a groundbreaking long-term study, led by the American Cancer Society and powered by the voices of Black women across the United States. The goal is life-changing: to better understand health conditions like cancer and learn how to improve the overall health of Black women.
By enrolling at least 100,000 Black women over the next few years, this will become the largest study of Black women’s health in the United States. Together, we can help shape research that reflects our lived experiences and improves health for generations to come.
“I want black women to receive the care we deserve and to be treated with dignity and respect.”

Your voice matters. Your participation can help shape research that improves the health of Black women for generations to come.
Why Join?
Black women are underrepresented in research. When we are not included in studies, scientists cannot know whether findings from other populations apply to us.
The information you provide will contribute to research that can improve the health of Black women. Your participation helps ensure that our experiences are included in the evidence used to guide national and international guidelines and policies.
Who Is Running the Study?
VOICES is designed for Black women and led by Black women - because representation matters. Trust matters. And who asks the questions matters.
The study is funded by the American Cancer Society and run by its Population Science department. The American Cancer Society has conducted population studies with more than 2.5 million participants since the 1950s. Research from these studies has been used to guide cancer prevention policies and recommendations worldwide.
VOICES of Black Women builds on this legacy and addresses the limited racial and ethnic diversity in previous research cohorts and health studies more broadly.
