Session B: BLKHLTH Conversations: Exploring the Impacts of Our Environment

Join us in Houston, TX for two weekends of interactive and engaging dialogue exploring the impacts of our lived environment on our health, particularly as it relates to increased cancer risk.

🎨 Design by Rabatho Laka

The purpose of this event is to bring together community members & advocates, health professionals, and policymakers to:

  1. Raise awareness about the cancer cluster in Houston Texas,  lung cancer risk factors (e.g. air pollution, hazardous chemicals, radon, smoking), and options for reducing risk.

  2. Provide health education about the lung cancer continuum of care, including prevention, early detection and screening, initiation into care, treatment, and survivorship.

  3. Identify existing community resources related to the cancer continuum of care available to residents of Houston, Texas.

Additional FREE health resources will also be available at the event, thanks to our community partner, Civic Heart, including:

  • At-home HIV tests

  • Colorectal Cancer at-home screening tests
